Matt. 22:33, 35-39. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at His doctrine.
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him and saying. Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind This is the first and great commandment. And the second like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The Lord has a way of getting to the heart of an issue in very few words. When this question was asked of rthe Lord , the Jews had built up the law to be such a burdensome obligation that it’s very intent and benefit had been lost in all of the associated ceremonies of the Pharisees. Jesus answers what could be a difficult and rigorous obligatory ritual. His answer to a provacative question is simple and to the point. Love the Lord first with all thy heart, soul, and mind. There are no other stipulations. Just love God and keep His commandments and love thy neighbor as thyself. We might say that maybe not too many love themselves as they should when we see the struggles society has today with truly loving thy neighbor. Maybe if we take more time to consider the Lords teachings, how simple yet needful they are , maybe our behavior would change and help influence our neighbor the same way. For ours is a God of mercy and grace and love. Glory be to Him And May our lives reflect His love. Have a blessed day. Love you all in Christ. Bro Mike
